01 / Damascus
Up-county, and worth the drive
Damascus is about as far north as Montgomery County goes. It is a longer run for our trucks than Rockville or Olney, so we plan Damascus deliveries as part of an up-county route along with Clarksburg and Germantown. Booking a day or two ahead gets you the delivery window you want. If something comes up and you need one fast, call early in the morning and we will do what we can.

In town
The neighborhoods off Main Street, Ridge Road (MD 27), and Woodfield Road (MD 124) are mostly single-family homes from the sixties through the nineties, with good driveways and room to work. The projects are the familiar ones: kitchens, baths, roofs, decks, and cleanouts. A 15 or 20 yard fits nearly all of them.
Out on the land
This is where Damascus is different. Properties with acreage collect things. Barns, sheds, and outbuildings fill up over decades with old lumber, fencing, furniture, broken equipment, feed sacks, and everything that was too good to throw away at the time. When the property sells or the next generation takes over, it all has to go.
For those jobs:
- Go big. A 30 yard is the normal choice for a barn or outbuilding cleanout. It is cheaper than two 15s.
- Pick firm ground. Gravel lanes and farmyards are fine in dry weather. After a week of rain, a loaded container can sink and the truck can rut the lane. If the ground is soft, let us know and we will find the best spot, or wait a few days.
- Sort out what cannot go in. Old fuel, oil, farm chemicals, paint, batteries, and propane tanks cannot go in the dumpster. Drain equipment before loading it. County residents can take hazardous items to the household hazardous waste drop-off at the Shady Grove Transfer Station in Derwood.
- Metal is fine. Old fencing, roofing tin, and scrap can all go in.

Septic, wells, and where not to park it
Many Damascus properties are on well and septic. Keep the container and the truck off the septic tank and drain field, and away from the wellhead. If you do not know where your field is, the county has records, and the grass usually gives it away.
